Tomislavgrad in Bosnia and Herzegovina is named after Tomislav, the king who ruled over the town in ancient times. Visit a huge monument in tribute to King Tomislav in the downtown area. Visit the Franjevacki Samosta, a Franciscan Monastery that consists of the church of St Nikole Tavelic and the west wing of the monastery. A national monument, the church is in memory of Nikole Tavelic, a Croatian missionary who died a martyr's death. The church was built in the pre-Romanesque times with elements of Byzantine and Croatian architecture.
