Sankt Polten, referred to as St Polten, is the capital of Lower Austria. Visit St Polten Cathedral, an ancient church dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The well-preserved church is Baroque in appearance and is an important place of worship. Watch orchestral concerts, dance shows, and theatre at the Festspielhaus St Polten, an interesting glass complex designed by Austrian architect Klaus Kada. Visit the city museum of St Polten situated in the heart of the old town in an old Carmelite monastery. The museum features exhibits on archaeology and the history of the city apart from art deco works. Climb the iconic Sound Tower for sweeping views of the city and its surrounding areas. At 77 meters, the sound tower is the second tallest building in the city.
