Panagyurishte is an industrial town situated in the valley of the Sredna Gora mountains. The museum is divided into different sections - Ethnography, Archeology, Ethnography, contemporary Bulgaria among others. The Panagyurishte Golden Treasure is an important exhibit in the museum. The golden artifacts weighing 6164 kilograms were discovered in 1949.
