Banska Stiavnica is an ancient town in Central Slovakia. Soak in the culture and vibe of the city at the historical Trinity square. The square was the hub of activities and is used for cultural events. Discover life underground at the open-air mining museum dating from the 17th century. The 1.5-kilometer-long route features mining equipment and gives an insight into the process of mining. Visit the Old Castle, a 13th-century building fortified with walls, bastions, and towers. The museum in the castle features an exhibition of tobacco pipes manufacture, Baroque sculptures, gun dartboards among others. Hike up to the Calvary of Banska Stiavnica, a beautiful calvary built-in 1744. The present building is renovated and offers brilliant views of the town.
